Spreker: J. Christopher Warner (Le Moyne College)
18 oktober 2023 om 18u30, Nottebohmzaal, Erfgoedbibliotheek Hendrik Conscience (H. Conscienceplein, Antwerpen)
In this lecture, Professor Warner recounts the process by which entries in Plantin’s and Moretus’s journals and ledgers provide critical clues, leading on to other clues, to the complicated itineraries of certain sixteenth century Low Countries’ imprints: from manuscript into print; from printing house to seller; even, from printing house to seller back to the printing house. The revelation of such details makes it possible to account for the present material condition of these books, but in some cases also to infer through what intermediate condition, no longer visible, they once passed.
J. Christopher Warner is Professor of English at Le Moyne College.
